Ryan Christianson

 



 

 



 

Ryan Christianson was born to a musical family in Grand Forks, ND and began playing trombone at an early age. He currently lives in Chicago, IL where he freelances in various settings with groups ranging from New Orleans style brass bands and big bands to chamber groups and symphony orchestras. Prior to living in Chicago, Ryan was an active freelance musician and educator in the Twin Cities area. There, he performed and recorded with creative projects including the McNasty Brass Band and Nooky Jones, as well as with national acts such as Lorie Line and the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra. In 2014, Ryan was selected as a finalist in the International Trombone Association's Carl Fontana Competition; in 2012, he received honorable mention in the Kai Winding Competition. Ryan graduated with a B.M. in Trombone Performance from the University of Minnesota.
