Mr. Lucas has performed with The St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, The Empire Brass Quintet, Santa Fe Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra, the American Classic Trombone Quartet (founder) & with orchestras in Minnesota, Texas, Rhode Island, North Carolina and New Mexico

Mr. Lucas has performed recitals & taught masterclasses throughout the world. Engagements in the United Kingdom included: Wigmore Hall (London), The British Trombone Society Festival, The Repton Brass Festival, The Royal Northern College of Music & Cheathams School of Music (Manchester), The Royal Academy of Music (London), The Guildhall School of Music (London), the Royal College of Music & The Royal Scottish Academy of Music (Glasgow). Engagements in Russia included: The Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Moscow), The Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory (St. Petersburg), & The Fine Arts Institute (Vladivostok). Engagements in South Korea included: Korean Trombone Festival, JeJu Festival, Seoul Trombone Ensemble and Wool Trombone Ensemble. Engagements in China included Shanghai Conservatory, Central Conservatory, Beijing, Xinghai Conservatory, Guangzhou, Shenyang Conservatory and the Hong Kong Academy of the Arts.

Mr. Lucas has performed as soloist, recitalist & clinician in the United States at: Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie, Terrace Theatre at the Kennedy Center, The Julliard School, The Eastman School of Music, The U.S. Army Orchestra & Band "Pershings Own”, The U.S. Naval Academy Band, The West Point U.S. Military Academy Band, the Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic, the New York Conference for Brass Scholarships, Masterworks Festivals, American Trombone Workshops (Wash. D.C.), Harmony Ridge Brass Festival (VT), 76 Trombones+4 Trombone Festival, Las Vegas, College Band Directors College Band Directors National Association Convention, Texas Music Educators Association Conventions, Texas Bandmasters Association Convention, Virginia Music Educators Convention,, Christian Artists Music Festivals (CO) Director of Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute’s Trombone Workshops, Las Vegas Music Festivals as well as over a hundred appearances at  universities, festivals, schools & camps.

Mr. Lucas' honors include the only Premeir Prix Diploma ever awarded to a brass player in the history of the Guildhall School of Music (London); Bronze Medal L’unamite and Finalist, Toulon International Solo Competition; First Prize Winner, ITA Frank Smith International Trombone Solo Competition; First Place "Fellow", Harmony Ridge Brass Festivals; First Place Solo & Group Competitions, National Christian Artists Seminar; & First Prize, The American Classic Trombone Quartet, First Prize, Summit Brass International Brass Chamber Group Competition, Alessi Seminar Participant.

Mr. Lucas has recorded with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra & the American Wind Symphony. Solo and Brass Chamber Music selections were recorded on two C. D.s for North South Recordings and Warwick Music Publishers, U.K. He has released two Solo C. D.s Hymns for Trombone and Cantabile.

Mr. Lucas has premiered/commissioned many pieces for trombone from many composers including: Fisher Tull, Jacques Casterede, Derek Bourgeouis, Adam Gorb, David Maslanka, Bruce Stark, Franz Cibulka, Eddie Bass, Alun Hoddinott, Gary Belshaw & Daniel Schnyder.

Mr. Lucas’ student’s accomplishments include: positions in orchestras, service bands, touring shows & the music industry and many competition prizes including: 1st Place winners, Emory Remington ITA International Trombone Choir Competitions (2x’s) & winner, U.S. National Tenor Trombone and (2x’s) Bass Trombone Solo Competitions, First Place Winner in the ITA Alberto Gagliardi International Solo Competition, First Prize in  “Slider Asia “ International Bass Trombone Competition, Finalists in ITA International Trombone Quartet Competitions (2x’s), ITA Frank Smith Award & semi-finalist, Tilden Prize, NYC and 1st Prize in the National Jazz Trombone Band Competition. 

Mr. Lucas is the Trombone Professor & Chair of Woodwinds, Brass and Percussion at Boston University. Prior to this he taught at Texas Tech University, Eastern New Mexico University and Sam Houston State University.

Mr. Lucas is a past President of the International Trombone Association and is an Artist/Clinician for the Eastman/Shires Company of Hopedale, Massachusetts, USA and a Denis Wick Products Ambassador.
