Evan Clifton

 



 

 



Evan Clifton is a Bass Trombonist and Music Educator based in Lansing, Michigan. Born and raised in Michigan, Evan has become a sought after Bass Trombonist throughout the region, performing with The Cleveland Orchestra, Grand Rapids Symphony, and Kalamazoo Symphony, among others. Additionally, he is a tenured member of the West Michigan and Battle Creek Symphonies. Evan was also formerly Interim Bass Trombonist of the Lansing Symphony Orchestra for the 2013-2014 season. Frequently doubling on tenor trombone and euphonium; he is well versed in a variety of musical styles, having performed in big bands, pit orchestras for musicals and opera, solo recitals, as well as symphony orchestras.

In addition to his orchestral experience, Evan has enjoyed a great deal of success as a soloist. He has made concerto appearances with the Western Michigan University Symphony Orchestra and Michigan State University Wind Symphony. Evan has also competed as a finalist in the National Solo Competition sponsored by the U.S. Army Band in 2012, and the George Roberts and Donald Yaxley Bass Trombone Solo Competitions sponsored by the International Trombone Festival in 2012 and 2015, respectively.

Evan completed a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Performance at Western Michigan University studying under Dr. Steve Wolfinbarger in 2015 and is currently a University Distinguished Fellow at Michigan State University while pursuing a Master of Music degree studying under Ava Ordman.
