Decker Babcock

 



 

 



Decker Babcock has performed across the United States and is a native of Atlanta, Georgia, he currently resides in Denver, Colorado. Decker is a featured trombonist on several albums recorded since 2011. In 2015 Decker was featured as a soloist for a series of Einstein Brothers Bagels television commercials, and in 2017 Decker became the full time trombonist for Joe Smith & The Spicy Pickles jazz band. Decker is well known for his ability to cover a wide range of musical styles, in particular, traditional jazz, swing, and early jump blues. Decker Babcock has studied under the direction and mentorship of Wes Funderburk, Dr. Tom Gibson, Lee Watts, Dr. Gordon Vernick, Dr. Bill Mann, and Dr. Cory Mixdorf. Some of Decker Babcock’s performing credits include playing with Lady Gaga, Carmen Bradford, Duffy Jackson, Jeff Barnhart, Joey Defrancesco, Dan Barrett, Lizzy & the Triggermen The Atlanta Hipster Orchestra, The Macon Pops Orchestra, The Dirty River Dixie Band, Johnathan Stout, and the Atlanta Bone Squad. As an educator, Decker has obtained a bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University and a masters of music in Jazz Studies Performance, and Pedagogy from The University of Colorado Boulder. Decker has taught privately his own studio of middle, high, and college level students. Decker has also given clinics and classes at The University of Colorado Boulder, Georgia State University, The Rialto Youth Jazz Orchestra, Escuela de Música de Pérez Zeledón (Costa Rica), Country Day School, Hacienda Espinal (Costa Rica), and the Instituto Nacional de Musica, (Costa Rica).

Decker Babcock performs exclusively, and is a performing artist for Denis Wick Products as well as Best American Craftsman custom trombones.
